|
Had my two (non bully) dogs at McDonald beach - the park was mostly deserted, the dogs had a good run and we were just getting back into the van.
I had the van door open when Chester was charged and attacked by an adult, intact male Presa. Luckily, the presa was wearing a cage muzzle but the guy refused to step in to break up the fight, even when I had my dog restrained.
Poor Chester had me restraining him, pulling him backwards so the guy could grab his dog and he still wouldn't step in. I was furious...not only did he bring his dog-aggro presa to the park, but he wouldn't break up the fight. His dog kept attacking, knocking me off my feet and I ended up underneath the two dogs.
After what seemed like forever, he finally stepped in and grabbed his dog. I put Chester in a down stay behind me (which he held) while I made sure the guy got a leash on his dog.
Checking Chester over at home he's bruised and sore but thankfully nothing worse happened.
The owner claimed his dog only wears the muzzle to prevent fights "because you can't start a fight wearing a muzzle". He also claimed that his dog has never attacked a neutered male, but did admit that his dog would fight with any intact male.
He also said that it was just dogs being dogs and that he didn't care if there was any damage to his dog. Even if Chester did bite his dog it was from an unprovoked attack and he was defending himself...I doubt that Chester knew the other dog was muzzled.
Who in their right mind brings a dog aggro intact male presa to an off-leash park? |

That is horrible! Some people out there (the majority if you ask me) just don't get it. I am glad you guys are OK. It's owners like that that make the fight against BSL so hard. _________________ Everyone should have a dog that will worship them and a cat that will ignore them. |

Oh my god, that is horrible! Did the guy have a car there or did he just walk away after?
Did you call AC or the police?
I'm glad to hear that everyone is okay...that's so scary! The nerve of some people, I was furious just reading your post. _________________ "It does not require a majority to prevail, but rather an irate, tireless minority keen to set brush fires in people's minds." |

That's horrible Dana I'm sorry that Chester is all bruised up now. It must have been very scary for you especially being stuck under two very large dogs. All I can say is that I'm really tired of stupid dog owners. |

That is insane, I can't beleive the nerve of some people, it's people like him that give our dog's a bad name if it was anyone else they would have probebly screamed pitbull attack not knowing the differance in the breed's
I am glad Chester was not seriously hurt though I am sure he will be sore for a few day's _________________ Changing peoples minds, one good dog at a time.

I appreciate your 'venting'!
I personally never really "snap" but when it comes this stuff ... i do!
There were some Danes living in our neighbourhood. One morning I lock my door, heading to my car for work. As I turn around Im confronted by not one but 4 Danes. The female 'pack leader' was growling quite aggressivley at me... on my property! The young male followed but seemed full of fear (imo worse!). I took a deep breath, stood my ground & firmly told the buggers to go home. The female, [CENSORED] for a better word, challenged me. I continued to tell her to beat it when finally the owner comes around.
I lost my mind, old man & all. I explained the responsibilty issue. I explained that if anything should happen its YOUR breed that gets the brunt of it not him. Its HIS irresponsibilty that messes it up for every dog owner alike. you cannot control your dogs, put them on leash. period!
Some people just dont get it. Some people dont look at the WHOLE picture.
Thats freaky. _________________ "Our doubts are traitors and make us lose the good we oft might win by fearing to attempt" Billy Shakes |
